The SAT and ACT are college entrance exams. They are given during high school and scores are sent to the colleges a student wishes to attend. Please refer to the college you are interest in attending to obtain their specific requirements.
The SAT is a reasoning test that asks students to apply their knowledge to answer questions. The test has two required sections: verbal (critical reading, writing, and language) and math. In addition, the SAT offers an optional timed essay section.
The ACT is a subject knowledge test that measures understanding in reading, English, math, and science. In addition, the ACT offers an optional essay-writing section.
Credit by Exam is a way for you to earn real college credits, and potentially save thousands of tuition dollars, by passing tests offered by The College Board, which administers Advanced Placement (AP) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams in math, history, science and many other subjects. There are 33 different CLEP tests. Students can register online (for about $80) to take the exam at a local testing center. The tests are pass/fail. Please refer to the specific college you are interested in to find out how they award credit for CLEP tests. For a better explanation of CLEP tests, visit the HSLDA site.
